International Film Editors Forum (IFEF)

Following the expansion of our English language events last year, Filmplus will once again host an entire International Day, which will take place on Saturday, 26 October 2019. To complement the Guest Country Evening (an essential part of the festival since 2012) and the International Panel (introduced in 2016), we are hosting the International Film Editors Forum (IFEF) for the second time.

This five-hour networking event for editors from all over the world was a huge success in 2018, when 32 editors from 13 countries took part, including the USA. In 2019, participation is expected to be even higher. Some of the countries joining the IFEF for the first time are the UK, Ireland, Spain, Norway, Argentina, Australia and Canada.

The International Film Editors Forum aims to facilitate closer connections between film editors globally. Filmplus offers them a creative space for productive discourse on professional topics and challenges, and supports them in their common goal of improving the perception and recognition of their profession, and their art. This year’s central theme will be: „Communication“ – both amongst film editors themselves, as well as communicating their goals, efforts and achievements to the outside world.

While both the International Panel and the Guest Country Evening are open to the general public, the International Film Editors Forum is a closed event, requiring prior registration. The experienced facilitator Christine von Fragstein will moderate its World Café conference format. A maximum of five participants per country will be admitted. Applications can be sent directly to the curator Dietmar Kraus at kraus@filmplus.de and must reach him no later than 6 October 2019.

International Film Editors Forum IFEF 2018

Oktober 2019.
